Inclusion
Division and discrimination are weaponized, leaving marginalized communities further excluded from power.
While the lack of inclusion in political, social, and economic life in the US has long been problematic, under the current Administration, it has increased dramatically through actions calculated to create polarizing “us versus them” divisions. Bias, prejudice, and discrimination against targeted populations are now core values and policy priorities of the ruling party, animating efforts to reduce inclusion, villainize DEIA, and incite direct attacks on “others.” At the same time, the growing concentration of economic gains favoring the wealthy and corporate interests has been translated via money in politics into overwhelming influence within the ruling party, to the detriment and sense of powerlessness among non-wealthy citizens.
